There is a story on CBN about pastor Mark Driscoll calling out the opening event at the Stronger Men’s Conference. The event opened with an evil display featuring a male stripper ripping off his shirt and doing a short pole dance. Disgusting!
Now if anybody thinks the Lord is present at such an event after such an insult, think again. If that’s what is going on at these event’s, it’s disgusting and an affront to the Holy One.
Mark described in very clear terms the display from the previous day for the evil that it was and continued to describe the S&G agenda as demonic, and of the “spirit of Jezebel”. An apt description to say the least.
So pastor John Lindell calls Mark out saying he is out of line and that he is done. Mark collects his materials from the podium and departs. John gets up on stage, the crowd is in pandemonium about bringing Mark back and telling Lindell to get off the stage. Lindell invokes Matthew 18 as a passage of scripture that Mark violated. Spineless traitor.
Quite the scene. And may I say, a scene that should be repeated any time a Christian forum opens with a wicked display that insults God.
I am not a fan of Mark Driscoll. He has had his issues as a pastor. But in this case his only sin was not staying on that stage and continuing to call out the evil. He should have continued until forcibly removed which would not have been easy since Mark is a strong dude.
Kudos to Mark. He did the right thing. He showed courage in exactly the right way.
As for you John Lindell, how dare you insult the God of heaven with your sanctioning of evil in front of a group of men at a Christian conference. Your insolence has disqualified you from ministry. Repent quickly! Matthew 18 has NOTHING to do with what happened. Public displays of evil must be dealt with publicly on the spot. Mark did that, you didn’t.
