Then the kings of the earth, the very important people, the generals, the rich, the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They said to the mountains and to the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of the one who is seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to withstand it?”

There have been a number of stories over the last several years about billionaires building massive and luxurious underground bunkers costing hundreds of millions of dollars. Apparently, they buy up a lot of land in remote areas or small islands and are in process of constructing their large underground complexes. It’s the usual suspects, Microsoft founder, Facebook founder, Oprah, etc etc.

Consider the word in the Bible verse above translated “caves”. It has an interesting definition:

Strongs g4693. σπήλαιον spēlaion; neuter of a presumed derivative of σπέος speos (a grotto); a cavern; by implication, a hiding-place or resort: — cave, den.

A hiding place or resort…sounds about right for these people.

Clearly, these people know something big is coming that will be catastrophic on the earth. Probably because they are the instruments through which catastrophe will come.

They may indeed bring catastrophe on the earth with their evil goals of population reduction and global government. Evil will have its day.

And then the Lord will have his day. In that day, their bunkers will not be an obstacle for the Lord or a safe place for them.

If you are a repentant believer in Jesus Christ, you have nothing to fear. You don’t need a bunker because the Lord is your stronghold. He is your shelter and your shield.

But for the the globalists, the evil billionaires of the world, go spend your money and dig your holes. Dig deep and hide yourselves. Save your sorry carcasses. Good luck with that.
