Aletheiaphobia

Then Jesus said to those Judeans who had believed him, “If you continue to follow my teaching, you are really my disciples and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”.

John 8:31-32

I think I just invented a new word. Maybe its out there somewhere but I’ve never seen it before. It struck me that those who do not bow down to a particular wicked S&G ideology being pushed on the culture from every level, are apparently suffering from a phobia – a fear – at least according to those imposing the darkness.

Much of the church is submitting to the forceful, relentless advance of an evil agenda. Why? Perhaps it is because we suffer, not from the various phobias of wicked doctrine, but because of “Aletheiaphobia” – a fear of the truth.

Set them apart in the truth; your word is truth.

John 17:17

Its hard to stand for the truth these days because to do so is beginning to require a price. But now, more than ever, biblical Christians must courageously stand form in the truth of God’s Word. We must, as Jesus prayed, remain set apart in the truth – the truth of God’s Word – no matter the cost.

What costs more? Holding to the truth of the Word, or embracing the falsehood of the culture as if it is truth? If you hold fast to the Word, it may cost you everything you have in this world: employment, resources, reputation, maybe your freedom. Will it come to greater injustice like incarceration for no reason? Torture, abuse, death? We should consider thousands of unnamed brothers and sisters in Christ persecuted for even identifying as a Christian – many standing faithfully, even to the point of death. And the answer of the western church is to reject the truth and embrace the wicked. What a dark response to our brethren in the faith.

I want to remain free. Not free as defined by the culture, but Kingdom free. If that costs me something here in my short lifetime, then Amen.

The next time you stand on the Word against the wickedness of the world, don’t be dismayed at the various “phobia” labels. The only thing you should fear is abandonment of the truth that has set you free in Christ. Don’t be Aletheiaphobic. While it can be hard to stand for the Truth there is nothing to fear for doing so.

The evildoer must continue to do evil, and the one who is morally filthy must continue to be filthy. The one who is righteous must continue to act righteously, and the one who is holy must continue to be holy.

Revelation 22:11

As you can see from this verse, there is no middle ground. Make your choice. Stand firmly on the Word of Truth.

    1. Haha yeah, I don’t even know how I got to that word. The departure from the truth was prophesied but alarming nonetheless.
