End Time Prophecy in the Gospels Part 8 – Troublemakers

Riots in the Streets of the US

The Gospel of Luke is the only gospel that mentions plague as a birth pang sign. This does not conflict with the other two so called “synoptic” gospels. It supplements the other gospels with additional information in the parallel passages. Adding additional detail is common for the gospel of Luke. To get the complete picture, we must study the parallel passages in the gospels as well as other related passages throughout the scriptures.

What do you think about when you hear the word “plague”? I don’t think anyone has forgotten what the world just went through with COVID-19. Plague is mentioned here as the Greek word “loimos” which is translated “disease” in this context. The Greek word is only used twice in the bible, the second instance in the book of Acts where it is translated “troublemaker” or in another translation as “pest”. I suppose it could mean either but in looking across the gospels at the parallel passages, it might be more logical to take the same meaning as in Acts 24:5.

For we have found this man to be a troublemaker [loimos], one who stirs up riots among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.

Acts 24:5

The reason I would suggest the word be translated consistent with what is in the book of Acts is because the typical word used for “plague” in the New Testament is “plēgē” from whence we get the word plague. Ironically, the Acts usage is applied to the Apostle Paul by the Jewish leaders who were falsely accusing him and asking the Roman officials to take action against him. Notwithstanding, if we take “loimos” as defined in the Book of Acts, i.e. “one who stirs up riots” then it is consistent with the birth pang signs of uprisings or what we would call “unrest” in today’s vernacular.

Riots and unrest don’t just happen today. They are instigated by those in power and spiritual forces operating behind the scenes who brainwash large numbers of people through social and mainstream media, using them as pawns to cause riots, mayhem, and chaos in cities around the world: The US, France, Israel are recent examples in which large numbers of people are organized, financed and used to bring lawlessness and violence to society and even with a goal to bring down legally elected governments that are trying to hold faithfully to law and order. What we see today happening in greater frequency and intensity has been foreseen as a birth pang sign.

I think its possible that this sign refers to the troublemakers with power and financial resources who “stirs up riots…throughout the world”, the ringleaders of these social disruption movements. They operate behind the scenes organizing and financing the mindless mobs causing so much violence, destruction, and lawlessness in our streets today.

Its interesting to me that those who are deliberately instigating chaos around the world are actually fulfilling biblical prophecy. No matter who you are or what you believe you can’t escape biblical prophecy. So make sure you are on the right side of it!
