Cities of the world are lawless cesspools of violence, murder, drugs, looting, homeless encampments full of Hepatitis and COVID, garbage and used needles all over the sidewalks and streets, criminal gangs at war with each other, it goes on and on. This is where the “powers that be” of the world want us to live. Not a pleasant prospect from a comfort standpoint – just ask someone who lives in Portland or Seattle – although perhaps a great opportunity for the gospel. My hat is off to the courageous Christian ministries that do their best to reach people with the basic care they need and the gospel of Jesus Christ. If they had the unqualified support of city governments instead of opposition, they might be able to change some things. But I digress…

Now imagine a city that is the opposite of everything I just said. Instead of godless, its full of the direct presence of God and the King of kings, Jesus Christ. There are no street lights because it is never without light. In fact, the illumination of the city is from the glory of God.

There is no murder or violence, no rape or assault of any kind. There is no homelessness or drugs or gangs. No poverty, disease, or LA traffic. There is no COVID or oppressive vaccine mandates from deceived, godless rulers. No boneheaded city ordinances enacted by reprobate officials. No need for police because there is no crime. No hospitals, doctors, or medication because there is no disease. Hopefully coffee cafes…

The people of the city all have their different personailities as inviduals, they come from every background and culture, every nation, even from different periods in history. And yet they live in harmony becasue they all have one thing in common. They are the redeemed of the Lord the saints of the Most High God. They are immortal, no longer corrupted by sin but living in righteousness, truth, and holiness. They are free men and women who come and go in and out of the city and throughout a great Kingdom to administer it as ordained and directed by the God of Heaven and the Lord Jesus.

And their primary reason for existance is to worship and serve the God who made them and redeemed them. They will rule with Him under a hierarchy of government that He establishes under His authority and the authority of the Lamb of God.

It is a paradise of perfection always dreamed of by mankind, always within our hearts but beyond our understanding until the day we behold it and possess it as our inheritance, promised to us by the Most High, that we who are made in His image and likeness will glorify Him in His direct presence. We worship the God of Heaven and His Christ, the anointed one, the Savior, the fullness of the Deity, the King of Creation.

Yes, we will all worship together with the heavenly hosts, the angels, myriads upon myriads of them – all servants of God. Imagine the gatherings of worship – the kings of the earth bringing in the glory of the nations who will all walk by His light. Finally, all nations, all people, all living beings knowing that the Lord is God and there is no other. He alone is the Most High, the Creator of the universe, the author of life and of the laws of physics, chemistry, and quantum mechanics.

This is the great City of God, the pure, holy, undefiled New Jerusalem, the centerpiece of the Kingdom of God. A Kingdom not made by human hands but by God Himself – a Kingdom that shall crush into dust all other human kingdoms and all the kingdoms established by rebellious spiritual entities who now dwell in the Lake of Fire, along with all those who have followed them with their lack of vision, thinking in their own corrupt minds that they could make themselves immortal through their pursuit of technology. They will never again be permitted to corrupt the New Heavens and the New Earth or the Holy City the New Jerusalem.

The city is of great size. It is the largest city ever in all of human history. It is multi-dimensional, not limited to buildings laid out on a two dimensional grid of streets but ascending to a great height, through the clouds through the layers of atmosphere into what we would call the thermosphere where the Auroras are produced as the solar wind interacts with the magnetic field of the earth to produce the release of photonic energy manifested as colors of light moving across the sky.

This magnificent city is described in detail in Revelation 21:9-27. Revelation 21:9-10 says the angel showed John the city. What is described in this passage is John’s eyewitness testimony. Here is a summary taken from the passage along with a little of my own commentary:

1. The city comes down out of heaven from God. Does it already exist? Possibly, or I’ll speculate that its the largest on-going construction project in the history of the universe. Jesus did say that he was going to prepare a place for us. The word translated “prepare” means “get everything ready”. Perhaps an allusion to a Galilean wedding in which the groom would prepare the new home for life with his betrothed before the wedding.

2. It has the glory of God with a brilliance like a very costly stone, as a stone of crystal-clear jasper. God and the Lamb will be there. We will behold Him and the Lamb in all the glory of God.

Interestingly, the bible says nobody can see God as He is and live. And yet, in this coming Kingdom, we will be able to see Him – and we won’t die because He gave us eternal life. Won’t that be something!

3. The city has a great and high wall, with twelve gates. The gates have twelve angels; and a name written on each gate corresponding to the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. There are three gates on the east and three gates on the north and three gates on the south and three gates on the west. And the twelve gates are twelve pearls; each one of the gates is a single pearl.

Now this is very interesting. A gate for each of the twelve tribes of the sons of Jacob (Israel). There is a prophecy in Ezekiel that says the Lord Himself will rejoin the tribes of Israel. More on that at some later date. Guess God knows where all those tribes are after all.

4. The street of the city is pure gold, like transparent glass. Gold has been considered a precious metal by mankind for our entire history. Used as money or to back the value of currency. Stored in Fort Knox. A haven for investors when stocks go south. Bought up and accumulated by nations to protect their currencies. But in the Holy City? Pavement.

5. The wall of the city has twelve foundation stones, and on them are the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. The foundation stones of the city wall are adorned with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation stone is jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald; the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprase; the eleventh, jacinth; the twelfth, amethyst.

The foundation stones of a massive city inscribed with the names of the 12 Apostles: Peter, Andrew his brother, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, Philip Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot, and Paul (sorry Matthias). Imagine that – the names of those who were personally called by Jesus, who spread the gospel and established the church, forever memorialized on the foundation stones of the greatest city in history.

6. The city is laid out as a square, and its length is as great as the width; fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal (about 170 km).

7. The wall is seventy-two yards, according to human measurements, which are also angelic measurements. The material of the wall is jasper.

8. The city is pure gold, like clear glass. I don’t know that its is actually gold as in the metal – maybe but it could be a description from John as best as he could describe it – inspired by the Holy Spirit but enough to give us some insight.

9. John saw no temple because the Lord God, the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.

10. The city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God illumines it, and its lamp is the Lamb.

11. The nations will walk by its light.

12. There will be no night there.

13. Its gates will never be closed.

14. The kings of the earth will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.

15. Nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Item 6 above refers to a measurement of 1500 miles for the dimensions of the city. The Greek word translated “stadia” is probably not a mile but more likely 600 feet, so if we go with 600 feet and do some basic area calculations, knowing that the city length and width dimensions are equal, we come up with an area of 29,055 square miles. A little smaller than South Carolina, or almost three times the size of the current nation of Israel.

The passage also says the height of the city is of equal dimension as its length and width. So we have indication of a multi dimensional city, not as we think of a city in terms of a two dimensional area. Perhaps there will be sections, tiers of the city in the clouds and even into the edges of space. Imagine such an immense city. Never has there been anything on earth that even begins to compare with a city on this scale.

As I’ve said before, there is every reason to take this as literal because the description of the city is detailed and specific. Biblical prophecy is always, always, always fulfilled literally. Fantastic!

If you are saved, then this is your future home, or at least a place where you can visit and worship God and the Lamb (Jesus). If you are not yet a believer, this can be your home as well. But it does say that only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will be permitted entry.

Don’t fall for the great deception that mankind as guided by alien entities can provide immortality and access to the stars through technology. Its not going to happen. Its just a demonic lie.
